Oceanside, Ca -- The effort to recall Oceanside Councilman Jerry Kern turned in over 11,000 signatures this week to the city clerk. 

Many have suggested this merely constitutes a union backed effort to return to a union friendly council. 

With community outrage over city budgets and employee pensions building, the difference between a union friendly council or the current make up could have dramatic impact.

Oceanside, Ca -- At the regular Wednesday night meeting of the Oceanside City Council, public hearings will be held to discuss the the fate of hte 465 acre property known as El Corazon.

One proposal approved by the Planning Commission includes 212 acres of playing fields, 164 habitat, 34 acres of civic and cultural services, 11 acres for a hotel, and 44 acres of various commercial development.

The meeting will be held at 300 N. Coastal Highway in Oceanside's Civic Center and will begin at 5 pm.Read more

Council member Esther Sanchez was the sole vote against a proposal to redo the Coast Highway.

The plan could include traffic roundabouts, development of special areas, and a reduction in driving lanes.

The plan is looking to increase shopping traffic along the Coast Highway and reduce the number of drivers using the road way to avoid 5 freeway traffic.

Sacramento, Ca --  Today, the Governor has planned a signing of a bill to suspend the 2004 Proposition 1A in order to borrow close to $1.9 billion from special districts, cities, and counties.

Proposition 1A was passed by voters in 2004 in order to severly hamper the state governments ability to borrow money from their local governments.
